Men’s results February 8
With the course finally receiving 20mm
of rain and a cloud cover, the day was
very pleasant without severe heat for the
first time in some weeks. The run slowed
considerably and the average scores fell
for the 25 players in total who played a
normal stableford competition, overlaid by
a two man team playing multiplier for the
first time at the Club.
In the Stableford competition, the
winner was our Country Member Malcolm
Browne with 39 points, followed on a
countback by the Captain, Clinton Starr
with 37 points, and third was a welcome
returning President, Roger White, also
with 37 points.
In the Multiplier the winners were
Malcom Browne and Steve Owen
(Thredbo) with 74 points, followed by the
Captain, Clinton Starr and Arthur Owens
with 63 points, and third was Chris Brown
and his partner Bruce Hart (playing his
first competition round as a new Member)
with 60 points.
Men’s results: February 12
In stark contrast to Saturday, Sunday
was played by 30 players overall in cool
temperatures, light to moderate winds,
and occasional squally rain. The winner,
with another excellent round, was Ken
Kable with 40 points, followed by three
players on 39 points: Charlie Filtness
from a handicap of 5; Bruce Dorward and
David Weuffen (Thredbo).
The seven week Summer Competition
ended today and, taking the best 4
rounds, the overall winner (just) was also
Ken Kable, followed very closely by Terry
Stevenson, and joint third were Bruce
Dorward and Roy Gabriele.
Ladies’ results: February 8
There was a small but dedicated group
of ladies playing on both Wednesday and
Sunday, and they welcomed back our
Country Member, Nadine Archibald, from
her principal home on Coochiemudlo
Island, SSE of Brisbane.
On Wednesday the Lady Captain, Jan
O’Halloran, won the stroke event with a
net 80 followed by Nadine Archibald with
a net 81, and third was Mary Obermaier
with a net 86.
On Sunday, in a subsequent stroke
event, the winner was again the Lady
Captain with a net 76, again followed by
Nadine with a repeat of her net 81, and
that was on a countback from Mary, also
with 81 net.
Monaro Utility Dog Club ran a very
successful trail in the comfort of the
JER considering the very hot and windy
weather on Saturday February 11.
It was a pleasant atmosphere on the trail
arena and enjoyed by a large number of
spectators. MUDC would like to thank our
generous sponsors and the owners of the
