Delve into heritage presentation in Delegate
A PowerPoint presentation designed for all members of the community
will be given by Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Heritage Advisor on
Thursday, May 18 in Delegate.
This presentation will include the definition of ‘heritage’, describe what is
meant by the term ‘significance’, explain what ‘listing’ means for an owner,
and provide information on how people may like to contribute to Council’s
database on the heritage.

Council meets monthly at locations right across the Snowy Monaro
region. The public is welcome to come along to these meetings.
For the coming months the meeting dates are as followed:

28 June – Bombala
26 July – Berridale
These commence at 5.30pm.

Your chance to shape your region’s future
Council is calling on the community to have their say and help shape
the region’s future. If you’ve got an idea of how you want the region to
evolve over the next five, 10 or 20 years, then we want to hear from you.
This is your chance to contribute to Council’s Community Strategic Plan,
one of the most important documents Council puts together. Council is
coming to your town, and we’d love for you to have your say by filling
out a short survey that will guide this important framework, outlining the
way Council will interact with its residents. You can complete the survey
either by hardcopy or online at our new engagement platform at www.
yoursaysnowymonaro.com.au. There’s even prizes to be won.
Council staff will be on hand in towns and running nighttime Visioning
Forums in Cooma, Jindabyne, Berridale, Bombala and Delegate.

Council seeks your comments for Badja Reserve
Council is calling on the community to have its say regarding the draft Badja
Reserve Plan of Management. The purpose of this plan of management is
to establish the framework and operational basis for the Badja Reserve at

Exciting book launches across the region
Cooma Library: Admired local poet, Lee Taylor-Friend will be launching
her latest collection of poems at the Cooma Library later this month. The
revered writer is well known across the Snowy Mountains for her thought
provoking works and come Friday May 26, Ms Taylor-Friend will unveil
‘Daily Awakenings – A poem a day’.
To head along to this not to be missed book launch, please RSVP to

Bombala Library: Author John Blay will hold a book launch on Sunday,
May 28 for his new book ‘Back Country’. To be held at the Platypus
Country Visitor Information Centre, this is the second book in Blay’s three
book series on the forests and landscapes of the south east. Blay will sign
copies of both ‘Back Country’ and ‘On Track’. To book your spot please
call the Platypus Country Visitors Information Centre on 6458 4622.
Escape through art in Delegate
ArtEscape returns to the Delegate Arts Centre once again for 2017. On
offer are four workshops with well know local Sharon Buckman.
Sharon will instruct participants in the fine art of creating beautiful
original glass works using slumped or fusion methods. Workshops are
on: May 20; July 22; September 23; and November 18. They run between
10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm. Please call the Platypus Country Visitors
