Last Wednesday’s Medley Stableford
attracted a good field of 25 and
Adam Robinson shot the lights
out on the back nine, with seven
consecutive birdies to claim A Grade
with 42 points.
Warren Bray took out B Grade
with 41 points and Gordon Weston
continued the fine scoring with 42
points to take out C Grade.
Phil Amey led the ball winners
with 39 points, followed by Frank
McKnight, Mal Crockett, Lindsay
Blewitt, Marilynne Weston, Roy Kerr
and Kim Howard, all on 38 points.
Roy Kerr took out Nearest the
Pin on 9 and Adam Robinson was
closest on 17.
Saturday’s Klein trophy, a Mixed
Fourball Aggregate Stableford was
easily won by Donna and Sean
Smith with 73 points. Place getters
were Carolyn O’Byrne and Kim
Howard on 66 points, Denis and
Bob Ashcroft on 62 points, Yvonne
Barnes and Alan Kelly on 60 points
and Gaye Wilson and Terry Johnston
on 58 points.
Kim Howard won Nearest the Pin
on the ninth hole.
The Men’s Single Stableford went
to John Gargett who edged out
Greg Abraham and Georg Froeschl
on a count back with 37 points.

Andrew Blair (35), Jeff Burgess (35),
Peter Smith (35) and David Goggin
Brian Searl took out Nearest the
Pin on 17.
Sunday’s 10th round of the
Thredbo Super Stableford was taken
out by Jeff Burgess with 41 points,
with Tony Monday on 38 points
collecting the runners up prize.
Norman Marshall led the ball
winners with 35 points from Bob
Ashcroft (35), John Harris (35) Steve
Young (35 and Greg Abraham (34).
Nearest the Pins went to Richard
Hanna on 9 and Dieter Seubert on
Next weekend is showcased by
the Cooma Open Championships
with the Open 4BBB Championship
on Saturday and the Open Single
Championship on Sunday. The
Single Championship is a Shotgun
Start event commencing at 10am.
On Wednesday there will be a
Cooma Golf Club news
On Wednesday the ladies played a
Stableford for Club Trophy.
Some of our ladies struggled in the
heat, not used to it yet but it didn’t
stop the good golf by some.
Joy Douch was the winner on a
c/b from Heather Brown 38 pts.
Balls were won by Heather and
Gay Kennedy 35 pts.
On Sunday a couple of our ladies
travelled to Eden for the Ladies
Heather Brown came home with a
trophy winning the Longest Drive in
It was a quite weekend on the
course over the weekend with
many attending the Bombala Race

travelling to Coolamatong for their

MEN’S AND LADIES’ RESULTS: WEDNESDAY
A continuation of good Wednesday fields, with
the greens looking a picture, and the fairways
exhibiting some run due to the dry conditions. The
weather was warm, with an accompanying warm

Retaining his very good recent form, the winner
was Bob Key with 39 points, followed by Roy
Gabriele with 38 points, on a count back from
Arthur Owens, who was third also on 38. Fourth
was Clinton Starr with 37 points.
October Monthly Medal: The winner of the
last Medal competition of the year was Bill Quin.
Bob Key and Ben Beattie qualified for the final in

LADIES’ RESULTS: STROKE
The winner of the ladies’ event in a welcome field
was Jan O’Halloran, returning to good form, with a
net 76; second was Mary Obermaier and third was

MEN’S 2017 CLUB OPEN: DAY 1: 4BBB:
Perfect conditions met the same sized field as
last year for the 4 BBB to open the Men’s Open for
The winners were Arthur Owens and Clinton
Starr with 46 points, followed by Ross Thompson
(a very welcome returnee after knee surgery) and
Jim Kubacki with 43 points, and third, on a very
close countback, were Mal Browne and Damian
Walsh also with 43 points.
MEN’S OPEN: SUNDAY 22 OCTOBER
With the field size exactly the same as last year,
and with visitors from Cooma, Nimmitabel,
Thredbo and Bombala Clubs, the Open players
enjoyed generally good conditions, with the
cold southerly abating as the round progressed.
Many sincere thanks to Betty Thompson, Jan
O’Halloran, Lorraine Key, and Christa Waehrer,
plus our great greenkeeping volunteers, for all their
valuable help in running the Men’s Open, and the
excellent preparation of the course in these current
dry conditions. We wish the ladies all the best with
their Open next weekend, and Cooma GC as well
with their Men’s Open.

The winner of the overall Scratch Competition, the
principal award for the Open, was Charlie Filtness
with a gross 78, followed by Damian Walsh with a

in the Australian Junior
Championships held in
Geelong, Victoria. Sam finished
fourth in the under 17 boys
Australia’s best junior squash
players over four days. Sam
was happy with the result
and is training hard for the
next major event, which is
the Australian Junior Open to
be held at the Gold Coast in
