Time cannot heal a heartache, or stop a lonely tear,
or take away the memories of one I loved so dear.
Love you always.
Last week it was a pleasure to accompany thirty-four
Year 3/4 on their overnight excursion to Canberra.
It was a busy couple of days spent visiting many
places of interest. The children must be commended
on looking resplendent in their school uniform and
using their best manners the entire time. They were
a credit to our school and community. I would also
like to thank all the children for not sustaining any
injuries at Flip Out. I was worn out from watching
I would especially like to thank Mrs O’Ryan for
all her work in making bookings and in generally
organising the excursion. A big thankyou also to
Sharon Hampshire for being such an invaluable
assistant over the two days and to Mrs Roberts for
her assistance. Finally, I would like to thank Michael,
our bus driver, who drove us safely and punctually to
and from our various destinations.
Day One (Thursday 2nd November) by Taya Douch
We left school at 7 o’clock on Thursday morning
on a Cooma coach. Our bus driver was Michael.
We picked Aimee and Jake up at the Nimmitabel
Bakery and then we went to Cooma Park where we
were joined by Mrs O’Ryan. At 10am we arrived at
the Royal Australian Mint and I struck a coin. We
got to see three robots. There was Penny, Titan
and Robby. Titan waved at us and Robby was
dancing. Then we had morning tea outside the Mint.
At 11.30am we went to the Canberra Glassworks
where we each made a glass tile.
At 1.30pm we had lunch at the Arboretum and
after we’d eaten we enjoyed some time on the Pod
At 3.30pm we visited the National Museum where
we divided into three groups and were shown
around by volunteer helpers. Our group saw a pool
and we got to put our hand in and it was cold.
After the Museum it was time for us to go to the
Bush Capital Lodge. We all had to make our own
beds and get changed ready for our visit to Flip Out.
At 5.30pm we had dinner, which was a delicious
chicken stir fry with fried rice. Some people had
coconut slice for dessert. After dinner we went back
to the dormitory and had Mia’s birthday cake.
We went to Flip Out at 7.30pm and Ashley lost
her socks. We went crazy on the trampolines in the
shed and in the foam pits. Then we went back to the
lodge and by 10 o’clock we were all sound asleep in
Day Two (Friday 3rd November) by Dakota
On Friday morning we had showers and then
we had breakfast. After packing our bags under
the bus we headed to Questacon. At Questacon I
went down the 6 metre free fall and nearly had heart
failure. We had lunch outside Questacon. Everyone
had a delicious wrap from the Bush Capital Lodge.
After lunch we left Canberra and were off to
Cooma. When we arrived at Cooma we had
afternoon tea and a play in the park. Then we
said farewell to Mrs O’Ryan and travelled back to
Bombala arriving at 4.10pm.
