Nominations called for Celebrate Ability Awards in the Snowy Monaro
International Day of People with Disability will be celebrated in the Snowy Monaro region with a number of great
Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Community Services Officer, Kristy Harvey, is calling for people to get on board
and nominate someone or a business for a Celebrate Ability Award.
The Celebrate Ability Awards are presented each year to people with disability, businesses and community groups
who are leaders in accessibility and inclusion.
The Awards celebrate the achievements of people with disability and reflect their contributions to the economic
and social life of our community.
Categories include: Employer of the Year (The Fletcher Lee Shield), Employee of the Year, Volunteer / Voluntary
Activity of the Year, Community Event / Activity, Community Participant of the Year and Community Champion.

Applications for street stalls in Bombala
Applications are invited from interested organisations wishing to hold street stalls on any day in the main shopping
area of Bombala during 2018.
Applications must be in writing and must reach Council by 4.30pm on Friday, 1 December 2017.
1. Applications are to be limited initially to one per annum for any one organisation.
2. Council is not responsible for allocating dates for bazaars, fetes, Saturday morning ticket selling or other
functions which are held on private property and accordingly, organisations wishing to reserve or coordinate
dates for such functions are advised to contact the appropriate authorities.
3. Applications must include evidence of current public liability insurance. (Applications received without this
evidence cannot be included)

Jindabyne Landfill closure for L’Etape
Council’s Jindabyne Landfill will be closed on Saturday, December 2
as a result of road closures for the L’Etape Australia cycling event.
The landfill will re-open for normal operating hours on Sunday,

Australia Day Award nominations – don’t miss out
Do you know an outstanding individual or group who deserves
recognition? Why not nominate them for an Australia Day Award.
Council’s official Australia Day ceremony will be held in Centennial
Park, Cooma on Friday, January 26, 2018. Nominations for
Australia Day Awards close on Friday, December 8.
Council’s list of Australia Day Awards include: Citizen of the Year,
Young Citizen of the Year (18 & younger), Sportsperson of the Year,
Young Sportsperson of the Year (18 & younger), Community Event
of the Year, Community Group of the Year, Arts Person of the Year,
Entrepreneur of the Year, and Emergency Services Worker of the
Nomination forms are available at all Council office locations or
Stronger Communities Fund – Major Projects Program
Bombala and Delegate Streetscape Projects
The Bombala and Delegate Strategic Masterplan was completed in June 2017. This document identified a number
of items that could be upgraded to improve the amenity and function of each town.
Under the Stronger Communities Fund Major Project Program, funding has been allocated to undertake works for
the Streetscape Project.
We are asking the community to provide guidance to Council on the key items they feel should be completed first.
